With a blockbuster Tintin movie finally hitting cinemas December 26, what better time to celebrate the fun-filled adventures of Hergé's Tintin and his friends? This Summer, come to Leuralla NSW Toy & Railway Museum and experience our dedicated Tintin exhibition, featuring rare models and recreations of favourite scenes from the celebrated series. All your favourite characters, from Captain Haddock, Thomson and Thompson to the intrepid dog Snowy are all on display for the whole family to enjoy.
The Tintin series is one of the most popular European comics of the 20th century, with translations published in more than 80 languages and more than 350 million copies of the books sold to date. The hero of the series is Tintin, a young Belgian reporter. He is aided in his adventures from the beginning by his faithful dog Snowy. Later, popular additions to the cast included the brash, cynical, grumpy and often drunk Captain Haddock, the highly intelligent but hearing-impaired Professor Calculus and other supporting characters such as the incompetent detectives Thomson and Thompson, who can only be told apart by the cut of their moustaches. Watch a trailer for the long-awaited movie adaptation, directed by Steven Spielberg, below:
Of course, alongside the Tintin exhibition, the museum still showcases its usual world-class displays of classic toys and trains, including Barbie, Popeye, Alice in Wonderland and more. The displays are housed in an historic early 20th century mansion, set in lush, 5ha award-winning gardens filled with interactive displays and picturesque scenes.
